Job Description:
Reports to: Board of Directors
Distinguishing Features:
The Director shall be involved with the marketing, analysis, negotiation, and implementation of economic programs established within the purview of the WOLCDC. Working with a high degree of independence, the Director will assist the new and established small and home-based businesses. Does related work as required.
Typical Work Activities (illustrative only)
- Maintains communications with local, county, regional, state and federal agencies.
- Write and/or facilitate grant applications.
- Represent the WOLCDC in local municipal meetings and community groups.
- Report to the WOLCDC Board at regular meetings.
- Report to municipal governments on a semi-annual basis.
- Market the region to business and industry.
- Serve as public relations with local citizens and business managers.
- Link with area colleges to use WOLCDC as an educational component.
- Administer the loan program.
- Prepare and oversee the annual operating budget.
- Facilitate businesses with moving through the government process of application and approval.
- Obtain clients for the kiosks and fill kiosks.
- Coordinate the existing website.
Full performance, knowledge, skills, abilities, and personal characteristics:
Good knowledge of business management with heavy emphasis on understanding and developing appropriate responses and strategies to problems and opportunities; ability to communicate in a written and oral manner; the Director must be a "people person", functioning in a professional manner which will gain the confidence of public, quasi-public and private sector individuals; Director will serve in positive resourceful manner.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation form high school or possession of high school equivalency diploma and six years experience in commercial business development, marketing, real estate and/or general business management.
